These are two handmade Japanese bamboo flutes. They are longer than the standard shakuhachi and irregularly tuned (since they are simply the natural bamboo, without coating to make the bore uniform). It's tough to get a really good sound from them, so not for the faint-hearted, but a fun challenge for anyone serious about shakuhachi or folk wind instruments.
