This is such a sturdy chair that it forces one to sit straight and tall lending to giving you an experience you probably never felt before in our more modern chairs. I restored the black wood and reupholstered the seat in an expensive sailor's vinyl over new padding. The seat just sits on top the way I found it and when in place fits so tightly it does not move.
